Sunday, January 22nd 2012 saw several thousand protesters march to the proposed site for the new toll plaza/office block and hand over their petitions and grievances to the MEC Transport, Robin Carlisle and the concessionaire, Entilini.

Carlisle vs Cape Times Battle of Chappies Hout Bay

Tranport MEC Carlisle and the Cape Times now seem to be exchanging a war of words with the first salvo coming from Cape Times news about the planned Protest March on the 22nd January 2012 and Carlisle's rebuttual. Cape Times today released a story claiming amongst other things that Carlisle intends removing the free day pass for locals to enjoy the picnic spots.

In an interesting rebuttal to the Cape Times article about the R54m proposed toll building Robin Carlisle, Minister of Transport and Public Works, puts the story straight.  

I am opposed to development on the mountain, but accept that there has been quite a lengthy process to get to this point.  

Either the people behind the story are meddling in politics (in which case they just lost again) or are just woefully misinformed and unprepared.

I will think twice about joining a march against a fait accompli, that should have been prevented. Bit like closing the barn door once the horse has bolted!

In case you don't know how it works- developer will submit ludicrous plans which will be objected too, and then lesser plan accepted. Hell No!!! There is nothing wrong with the current arrangement- we don't need any more building there whatsoever!!!
