Usually when I frequent Casareccios in Hout Bay I will order off the pizza menu. Jorge has perfected the thin crust pizza, and the namesake pizza, the Casareccio is my favourite! Yesterday I decided to try some of the Portuguese fare on the menu instead.
I can highly recommend the Trinchado. You won't find trinchado in Portugal, but it is said to have been created by Portuguese immigrants to South Africa and Mocambique.
Many people have tried to copy Jorge's secret recipe, but none have come close. Think I need to reschedule a visit to try out the Espetadas!
We love Casariccio! If I had to choose a meal to have on my death bed it would be their Spaghetti Bolognese. It is our favorite restaurant in Hout Bay. Love the service, the food and everything about it. Thank you for posting this and bringing attention to this fabulous foodie spot. Judy and Dave from New York.
